Strategic Attendance Leader

Essex Education Welfare Service discharge the Local Authority's statutory responsibilities in respect of regular school attendance, children missing education, child employment and entertainment.

This position will have lead responsibility for whole school attendance improvement policy and practice, working with Education Welfare Service (EWS) staff, education establishments, other agencies and service areas to improve attendance.

The role also includes line management of two specialist managers and overseeing the central team responsible for issuing work permits, entertainment licences, chaperone licences and penalty notices.

The successful applicant must have extensive experience of improving school attendance and high level leadership/management skills. They will be highly motivated, proficient at analysing data to inform practice, and have excellent presentation skills.
