Storage Engineer Job

Yoh has a contract to hire opportunity for a STORAGE ENGINEER to join our client in Mountain View, CA.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Provide a stable and current system storage environment. Install, support and enhance the storage environment, including the Storage Area Network, System-Managed Storage and an enterprise backup solution. Provide guidance, analysis and recommendations to the Systems Engineering department on storage subsystem related matters. Perform system analysis for overall storage system performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- With little or no assistance, plan, install, test, debug, and implement storage system components or enhancements
- Maintain or enhance storage system tools and processes related to Storage Area Network (SAN), Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and System-Managed Storage (SMS)
- Understand and make recommendations on storage system hardware/software options
- Perform Storage Administration functions including, but not limited to, provisioning storage and maintaining backup processes
- Write or modify existing scripts of medium to advanced complexity as necessary
- Provide Operations, Applications Programming and end user support when required
- Provide technical analysis of problems as assigned by management
- Provide coverage for his/her system changes
- Provide storage system education, guidance, consulting and technical expertise to other members of the Computer Services Division
- Understand and provide support for storage system performance and tuning
- Observe all applicable job-safe practices and full compliance with Deltanet's Safety Policy
- Completes other tasks as assigned by Division and Department Management

JOB QUALIFICATION:

- College degree (BA or BS) or currently enrolled in a post-AA degree program desired. Technical training strongly preferred.
- Three to five (3-5) years of experience working with storage system functions, components, and data center operations
- Strong working knowledge of concepts, uses, and capabilities of Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment and software preferred.
- Three to five (3-5) years of experience working with enterprise backup tools.
- Excellent written, oral, and general communications skills.
- Strong ability to make use of Scripting languages to interpret scripts of medium complexity.
- Experience with, and strong working knowledge of disaster recovery principles and concepts.
- Strong working knowledge of Mainframe, UNIX and Windows operating systems. In-depth in at least one operating system required.
