Storage Architect

We are looking for an storage architect to host the infrastructure of an international organisation. The environment consist of large centralised datacenters and small distributed sites. Locations in capacities ranging from terabytes to petabytes.

The Architecture Group manages the client's strategic technology requests for the services offered and works closely with the client's architecture teams to:

- Update and maintain roadmaps for new and existing services.
- Develop new storage services in line with the client's architecture strategy.
- Evaluate client requests for non-standard storage service delivery.
- The Architect also works with Engineering and other teams to ensure high quality service
- Create project solution designs and service high level designs, in-line with architecture principles and customer requirements, to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and commercial constraints.
- Provide support for other architecture domains (database, Middleware, SAP etc) to ensure standardization of solutions utilizing storage services.

FUNCTIE-EISEN

- Minimum 5 years experience working in a storage engineering or consultancy position.
- Strong experience in a customer facing position in a challenging environment.
- Good experience of at least 3 current storage vendors and their products.
- Good experience of working in international virtual teams.
- TOGAF certification (desirable).

Technical skills

- Technical design and engineering skills using advanced storage technologies, including block and file storage subsystems, systems with higher level functionality inside and outside the data path (deduplication/compression, HSM, global namespace, object storage, remote caching, WAN acceleration etc), all common access protocols and operating system and application utilization of storage.
- Demonstrate solid understanding of all modern and historic storage concepts and technologies (eg 512B/4KB blocks).
- Understanding of state management in backup and disaster recovery solutions/designs, including data replication (synchronous and asynchronous).
- Understanding of operational support tools and processes in a global infrastructure (provisioning and evergreening, incident and problem management, reporting, etc).

Soft skills

- Self-starter, able to adapt to working in a leadership role as well as working in a team, able to deliver on commitments without direct supervision.
- Efficient communicator, able to write clear documentation and present to both technical and non-technical audiences.
