Job Description:

All aspects of steelwork involved in submarine construction. Major and minor fabrication, ability to work to drawings and written instructions. Consistently produce work within tolerance to the correct acceptance standard. Use of optical alignment tools and measuring equipment.

Additional Information:

Must be willing to work as part of a team and prepared to work shifts, evenings and weekends if required to do so by the business.

Responsibilities:

Work safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
All aspects of Steelwork involved in Submarine construction.
Check completed activity to ensure all operations have been completed to meet the required specification.
Ability to follow relevant instructions, drawings and any other specifications to tolerance.
Use of hand held burning and grinding equipment.
Use associated tools and equipment safely and effectively.

The Individual:
Qualifications/Experience;

Time-served Steelworker (Plater/Shipwright).
C & G Level 3 or equivalent.
NVQ L3 (dependent on time-served date).
Demonstrate experience in Shipbuilding, Nuclear, Petro-Chem. Offshore, Marine, Heavy Engineering.
Previous experience in erection of large steel fabrications.
