Statistician/Modeler

STATISTICIAN/MODELER FOSTER CITY, CA 8 MONTH CONTRACT

SAS or R or SQL Developer required to work on complex rule engine and model development. Candidate must understand how to translate written or verbal requirements into test cases and working code.

Must have skills: Experience with large data analysis; Experience in benchmark reporting; SQL OR SAS OR Hive Looking for a Data Focused person, heavy reporting.

Nice to have skills: SAS Macros; Python would be considered a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent training required
- 5-7 years related experience required
- Experience working in Agile development setting required

SKILLS

- Understanding of how to translate complex rules into workable code using SQL, Stored procedures or SAS
- Knowledge of R or SAS or SQL (T-SQL or PL/SQL) under both Linux and Windows environments
- Basic Unix tools, AWK, bash, etc.
- Knowledge of Python a plus
- Knowledge of data mining or statistics a plus
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage ones time
- Ability to work with minimal requirements
- Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Translate written or verbal requirements into test cases and working code
- Evaluate code to ensure it is valid, meets industry standards and is compatible with operation systems
- Confer with management or development teams to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop content criteria or choose solutions
