Staff Release and Configuration Management Engineer

RELEASE ENGINEER FOSTER CITY, CA 1 YEAR CONTRACT

We re looking for a bright, passionate and dedicated Staff Build & Release Engineer to join our expanding Product Development team in Austin, TX or Foster City, CA. In this role you will work closely with Infrastructure Provisioning, Application Development and Operations teams to provide fully automated build and deployment routines for Development, Staging, and Production environments. This is an exciting time for the Build & Release team as they implement Build & Release automation towards the goal of Continuous Delivery.

We re looking for a Release/Configuration Engineer with Dev Ops and Automation experience, as well as experience administering various tools supporting SCM and Release Mgt including Source Control, Continuous Integration, Artifact Management, and Change Management.

YOU WILL HAVE RESPONSIBILITY TO:

- Work directly with agile Application Development to provide daily support aligned with a model of Continuous Delivery.
- Promote a Dev Ops culture through building relationships with Development & Operations and driving enhancements to the end-to-end release process (Workstation to production).
- Define and evolve Build & Release best practice by working within your own team and educating the other stakeholder teams. These best practices should support traceability & auditability of change.
- Administer various tools supporting SCM & Release Mgt including Source Control, Continuous Integration, Artifact Management and Change Management.

STRONG KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE OF WORKING WITH THE FOLLOWING:

- Source Control Tools such as Accurev, GIT and Clearcase
- Build Automation tools such as Maven or Ant (for Java Applications)
- Continuous Delivery Approach
- IBM Buildforge or equivalent
- Linux/UNIX system administration
- Continuous Integration (CI) tools such as Bamboo, AHP and Jenkins
- Scripting language such as Perl, bash or Python
- Orchestration tools such as Puppet or Chef
- Configuration Tokenization Tools/Solutions
- Red Hat Package Manager (RPM)
- Enterprise High Availability Platforms
- Administration of Application Servers such as tcServer/Tomcat, JBoss and WebSphere (and Deployment Manager),
- Jira Change Management tool or equivalent
- Troubleshooting environment related issues
- ITIL/ITSM Standards for Configuration Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the above, the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

- 4+ years of experience in Release and Configuration management roles
- 4+ years Build Automation
- 4+ years experience in Linux
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Very good attention to detail, someone who takes ownership and pride in all work
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as with a team
- Understanding of the software development life cycle
- Previous experience as a programmer desirable
- Should have worked at enterprise companies and experience supporting high availability applications
- Must be able to occasionally work off-hours to support production releases
