Staff Nurse, Surgical Services

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Competent OR staff member provides to individuals and groups, nursing care requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill derived from the principles of biological physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences. Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and directs nursing care with a family centered care focus for individual/group of patients within scope of practice, as assigned on a unit. Staff may be temporarily assigned to an area throughout the Akron Children†s Hospital enterprise, based on patient needs requiring similar knowledge and skill. Anticipates the needs of all healthcare team members in the perioperative arena, and assist in continuing education and orientation of all staff member.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio. BSN required or must obtain BSN within 5 years from date of hire. Current Health Care Provider BLS training from the American Heart Association is required. PEARS is required for all RNs assigned to general care units. PALS, ACLS, TNCC and/or NRP is required for critical care areas, ED, Surgical Services, Sedation Services, Transitional Care/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Transport within one year of hire.

RN OPERATING ROOM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
