Sr. Drilling Engineer DW

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

* Responsible for ensuring detailed Drilling Program is communicated to rig, and adapted for rig specification.
* Works with Operations Geologists in ensuring well program is followed by rig operations.
* Tracking rig performance, and compares with baseline for well times and costs.
* Assists in well AFE preparation and well plans including presentations for well approvals in house, and externally with partners and regulatory authorities.
* Assists Drilling Superintendent as required in ensuring well operations are monitored and provides engineering support as wells progress, and as contingency solutions are required.
* Arranges pre spud, and post spud lessons learned sessions as needed.
* Ensures that best available technology is used for Cobalt wells to provide an efficient safe drilling performance.
* Collates and prepares end of well reports.
* Enquire on well problems in order to understand causes and evolution; provide advice and detailed contingency program on the most effective solutions and corrective actions.
* In coordination with the team ensure that lessons learnt and related recommendations are included in future programs.
* Liaise with Contractors representatives to ensure that personnel, services, materials, equipment, etc. are available in quantity and quality as required to drill Cobalt well. Maintain good working relations with Contractors.
* Monitor and implement risk reducing measures; take immediate actions to safeguard personnel, assets, and environment in case emergencies related to the well construction operations.
