Sr Drilling Engineer - Bakken Shale

A major player in the oil and gas industry is looking for a Sr. Drilling Engineer to grow their team inNorth America. The company has operations onshore, offshore and in deepwater. This position is for their team working in the Bakken. The primary responsibilities are as follows:

* Detailed well planning including design, engineering and drilling procedure generation.
* Detailed time and cost estimate generation
* Thorough identification of risks and mitigating controls
* Generating scopes of supply for contracting the necessary third party services
* Tender technical evaluation and provision of recommendations for contract award
* Operational support during the drilling operations phase
* Ensuring compliance with Hess standards and applicable legislation and regulations
* Performance tracking (actual Vs planned) and making recommendations for improvement.
* Post well close out and reporting including capture of lessons learned and best practice.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably in petroleum engineering).
* At least 5 years well engineering experience preferably with an operator of which 3 will have been directly related to drilling engineering/well design.
* Proven track record in well planning including; casing design, directional drilling, drill string/BHA design, drilling fluids, cementing and contingency planning.
* Proven track record in implementing innovative and practical drilling programs which have maximized productivity and added value whilst minimizing cost.
* High degree of computer literacy in the Microsoft suite and drilling engineering software
* Experience in risk assessment and well time/cost
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (a team player)
* Ability to develop ideas and work with minimal supervision.
* Well site operations experience.
* Commitment to Environment, Health, Safety & Social Responsibility principles.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

* Shale gas drilling experience and/or extended reach lateral drilling experience
* Exploration, Appraisal and Development Drilling experience
* U.S. onshore experience
* Mobile, willing to relocate and work in other places in the US and globally
