Position: SQL Server Developer

Duration: 12 months (Contract)

Location: Columbia, SC 29201

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This individual is accountable for developing Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL Stored Procedures, Functions and Views as required by the project team lead. The SQL Server Developer works closely with the database architect to resolve any ambiguity in specifications before actual coding begins. We operate in a team environment and collaborate on a daily basis; the qualified candidate must demonstrate a successful track record working in a team based environment.

The following duty statements are illustrative of essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required.

1. With a comprehensive understanding of OLTP and data warehousing architecture, concepts, and applications, will work with the business analysts, customers and team members to obtain and define user information needs, and performance requirements.

2. Analyze, design, construct, and develop both existing T-SQL code as well as new development. Uses standard concepts, best practices and procedures to define the algorithms, unit testing, and data governance requirements as defined by the database architect.

3. Using the standards for SQL Server development as defined by the database architect, will sufficiently document all development processes utilizing a combination of proper code comments and project documentation.

4. Utilizing Microsoft Team Foundation Server; will be responsible for tracking and documenting all bugs, issues and tasks assigned, as required. The incumbent will be required to meet all documented Service Level Agreements (SLA), with an emphasis on accurate and robust T-SQL development.

- 2-Year Technical or 4-Year Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or IT focused discipline PREFERRED or high school diploma with commensurate industry training and job experience is required.
- Minimum 5 years overall experience, including not less than 3 years in Stored Procedure, View and Function design and development.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years overall experience in using Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008 R2, 2012 technologies.
- Practical knowledge and experience of C# and/or VB.NET as it applies to ETL and external application development.
- Experience writing SQL stored procedures for Microsoft SQL Server or IBM DB2.
- Understanding of database design and optimization concepts such as normalization, indexing, and transactions.
- Outstanding knowledge of SQL Server (TSQL, data types, Enterprise Manager, error handling)
- AS400 experience a plus.
