SQL Server DBA

We are seeking a SQL Server DBA for a 6 month contract position in Alpharetta, GA.

A suitable candidate must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills who can work with multiple teams simultaneously and manage deliverables both for him/herself as well as those of other more junior offshore DBA's. This position is focused on Application DBA tasks, but also has some operational responsibilities. On-call support is also required, as is night/weekend work as needed to implement production changes during change windows.

Minimum 7 years of SQL Server database administrator experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008
Database design and architecture
Must be knowledgeable about underlying database architecture schemas/products, database objects, file system structure, tables, views, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, indexes, and constraints
Database structure changes, table/index sizing, SGA sizing, SQL, I/O and Application tuning, transaction monitoring, detecting lock contentions, tuning sort operations.
Excellent knowledge of partitioning.
Excellent knowledge of management packs.
Extensive use of logical backup and restore technologies
Experience with DB clustering architecture - Active/Active, Active/Passive, etc.
Experience with HA/DR strategies and implementations - log shipping, etc.
Must have a strong understanding of Microsoft server architecture.
Strong knowledge of TSQL
SSIS
Experience writing scripts - DB and O/S Scripting
Job scheduling
Partner with application architects and developers to architect and implement designs while ensuring that all expected results are delivered to end customer including performance, stability, security and disaster recovery.
Partner with operational DBAs to ensure database performance, reliability and SLAs are met.
Document all application database designs
Perform database tuning
Create database indexes per application design
Develop and maintain system monitors
Analyze potential problems areas and recommend and/or implement improvements
Analyze queries and other performance bottlenecks that may be related to the database tier
Capacity planning
Applying and testing patches
Own problems and see to resolution, including when outside support is needed from other Client teams or when outside vendors are needed
Experience with administering SharePoint databases a plus.
Experience with web-based applications
Opening, managing, escalating and resolving Microsoft SRs with Microsoft Support
Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
Work nights and weekends as needed
Ability to lead or oversee various projects and initiatives
Demonstrated experience with change management and configuration policies
