SQL Server Database Administrator Job

SQL SERVER DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in Washington, DC.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- SQL Server 2005-2012
- Application and/or System DBA

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server (2005 and 2008)
- Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
- Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, and patching.
- Basic Windows

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Candidates with more than three (3) years of either Oracle database or Windows Server administration preferred
