SQL Server Database Administrator

SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR FOSTER CITY, CA 12 MONTH CONTRACT

We re looking for a highly proactive Database Admin capable of working on large enterprise infrastructure of 100+ SQL Servers. This candidate will provide MS SQL Server database engineering and administration support for an enterprise technology refresh project and application infrastructure refresh project.

Major responsibilities include leading database and database server design for various applications, leading database and database server deployment, working with different teams to successfully deliver projects on time and on standard, providing troubleshooting and performance monitoring assistance, working with enterprise tools to manage various aspects of database and database server, working with production support team as engineering SME for various applications, and working with professionalism and maintaining good customer relationship.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Design, development, and implementation of SQL Server solutions for complex projects
- Deep understanding of SQL server security requirements
- Providing technical expertise in all aspects of database implementation life cycle from sizing, through capacity planning, design, and implementation
- Physical implementation of databases, storage structures, high-availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions
- Providing input for database standards and best practices for advanced monitoring and troubleshooting, performance tuning and automation
- Giving guidance and direction to Level-2 Production database operations team

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5-8 years experience working as MS SQL Server DBA supporting mission critical applications
- Experience working on large enterprise infrastructure with over 100+ SQL Servers
- Expertise in design, analysis, development, implementation and administration of 2008R2 and 2012 databases
- Expertise in implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always-on, Log shipping, data replication, and mirroring
- Expertise in database performance monitoring, recovery, change management, and task automation
- Experience working with different components of SQL Server including SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
- Most recent experience must be in database engineering
- Experience with VM virtualization and Vblock technologies a big plus
- Experience with SQL 2012 Always-on a big plus
- Experienced with SQL technical security requirement a big plus.
- Some experience with Oracle database platform a big plus
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills required
- Strong ability to work independently and manage one s time
