SQL DATABASE ADMIN DALLAS, TX 6 MONTH CONTRACT

Responsible for the design, development, implementation, integration, and maintenance of multiple premium and core database management technologies, tools and utilities. This position provides technical, interpersonal and administrative skills in performing day-to-day work.

Expected deliverables include, but are not limited to: requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, upgrading, patching, monitoring, tuning, securing, recovery and tools and utilities. Additional deliverables include research, planning, evaluation, on boarding and integration of new or enhanced technologies; producing technology roadmaps; provide guidance and strategies for supported technologies; document and share knowledge; develop, maintain and communicate departmental policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Works with a team to utilize MS SQL Server RDBMS and MS SQL Server Clustering.
- Expected to create and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, views.
- Expected to create and maintain ETL/DTS/SSIS package and SSRS.
- Adheres to departmental policies, standards and procedures. These include, but are not limited to; technical and architecture standards, production and operational processes, and software license compliance.
- Collaborates with multi-discipline teams for complex work efforts which includes estimating, coordinating, tracking progress, inspiring others to complete tasks on time, assisting with resolving issues and creating status reports.
- Participates in a team environment for the delivery and maintenance of data and/or database management systems.
- Plan and communicate server and storage capacity requirements.
- Design and configure database operational structures per application functional and operational requirements.
- Configure database backups per operational requirements.
- Configure database with application and user security per policy and standards.
- Monitor and tune databases to meet operational performance and capacity requirements:
- Monitor and tune databases to meet backup and security requirements
- Follow all established policies, procedures, processes, standards, or guidelines
- Performs regular review of database environments, systems or applications to ensure system recoverability, performance, security and capacity adequately supports defined system requirements.
- Ensures 24x7 availability of production systems by participating in rotating on-call assignments. Assumes responsibility for problem/outage resolution and timely recovery or restart of database systems or applications.
- Plans, coordinates and facilitates highly complex changes to production environments and systems within approved maintenance windows and with no unapproved impact to customers.
- Provides consulting support for IT and Business partners by researching, identifying and resolving complex technical problems.
- Develops, tracks and executes quality work plans.
- Takes initiative and seeks out work. Provides opportunities for team and team members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field
- Six years relevant experience with support or management of multiple relational database technologies
- Proven expert with or specializes in several of the following technologies, tools, utilities or methodologies: MS SQL Server RDBMS, Clustering, Replication, Windows, SQL, PL/SQL, Transact SQL, Shell, Database connectivity/networking clients, Data Modeling, Case Tools, SDLC
- Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies and apply them to technological and/or business needs of significant scope
- Ability to design and implement highly complex database systems or solutions; includes architecting the software, backup & recovery, security, capacity, performance or replication as it pertains to database solutions
- Ability to analyze, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and system coordination issues
- Ability to provide direction to others in analysing and solving system or technical issues and problems
- Communicates clearly in a timely manner in both verbal and written form
- Ability to develop and maintains effective relationships within the team and across teams
- Will be required to provide on-call service
- Meets established deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality
- Negotiates changes to delivery dates
