SQL Admin/DBA contract up to £210 per day - 3months - Manchester

PTS's client who are undergoing expansion and restructure within their teams, are currently looking for a qualified SQL Database Administrator to join its Database Team for the centralised support and deployment needs of the organisation.

The Database Administrator/Engineer team will be responsible for working closely with application developers and provide 3rd line support to IT staff and end users. In addition you will work with server and storage team, and infrastructure team and gain opportunities to work on different projects.

Key Duties:

Be responsible for MS SQL SERVER DATABASE and work with Oracle Databases supporting large business critical applications.

Work with Server & Storage teams, who build virtual Servers and present them with an IP address.

Develop the database infrastructure by performing database monitoring, performance tuning, building new systems.

Install SQL 2008R2/12/14

Set security credentials and user roles within SQL

Set backup/restore and custom maintenance plans

Scripting queries

ODBC connections

Performance settings

Windows updates and security patches for the SQL estate

Oracle scripts experience would be advantageous

Successful candidates must have technical skills in Database Administration having worked with SQL Server or Oracle Databases, having supported business critical applications. Candidates with 18 months experience of DBA work will be considered. Candidates will gain exposure to a wider range of different technologies including VMWare, Citrix, Microsoft Clustering, MS Dynamics etc.

Candidates with strong Oracle SQL skills may also be considered for the role.

The role will enable the successful candidate to work closely with the Infrastructure team and Server & Storage team and work on some of their projects. The contract role is based In central Manchester, offers some flexi-time, and is initially offered on a 3 month basis with a rate up to £210 per day.
