SQL DBA Job

SQL DBA needed for a LONG-TERM CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Charlotte, NC.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS POSITION DOES NOT ALLOW FOR WORKING REMOTELY, AS SUCH THE INCUMBENT MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ONSITE IN CLIENT'S CHARLOTTE, NC LOCATION.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The SQL Server DBA team is responsible for the 24x7 availability of mission critical databases in Production, User Acceptance, Development, and Test environments for fast-paced delivery.
- There is a high expectation in availability, performance and scalability to support the tremendous growth of various applications within the company.
- The DBA team is responsible for the build, ongoing maintenance, failure avoidance, detection and repair of the SQL Server databases associated with the applications. Some work will be outside of a standard 8-5 work day.
- Design automation of standard processes through integration of tools and development of code to operationally support the deployment of supported products and to improve the productivity of the DBA and Informatica teams.
- Develop code in Perl, SQLCMD, WMI to be executed across numerous Servers with standard builds.
- Develop code utilizing standard APIs and processes to integrate standard tools, such as EMC Storage, Marimba, TSM, etc.
- Performs problem resolution and root cause analysis along with recommending and implementing preventive techniques.
- Ensure standardization of systems implementation, support techniques, and adherence to formal processes, change control, best practices, and total quality practices in all activities.
- Participate in 24 X 7 "On-call" support rotation for systems, products and services
- Ensure effective communications to internal IM customers along with customers outside of the department

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Solid development or operational IT Experience
- Experience supporting large, complex, high-availability systems
- On-call rotation availability
- SQL 2008 R2 thru SQL 2012 experience
- Data warehouse and ODS experience
- SQL clustering, AlwaysOn, and mirroring experience
- Working knowledge of related infrastructure, tools and services such as SANs, database backup technologies including Networker, software installation, and business continuity
- Exhibits strong teamwork and individual drive - highly motivated, articulate and eager to learn.
- Ability to thoroughly document, communicate, and adhere to processes
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills (listening, conflict management, approachability, negotiations).
- Experience in large 24X7 production IT operations
