SQL DBA

Synergy Consulting Group is looking for a SQL DBA for a four month contract working with a great company just north of Cincinnati in Mason, OH.

In this project, you will be assisting by upgrading the database server, hardware and software, and configuring the environment to more closely follow best practices.

The pay for this position is $60 to $70 per hour depending on experience and skill set.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Upgrade database server, hardware and software, and configure our environment to more closely follow best practices.

That could be any/all/more of the following specifically:

-

Create a new SQL Server 2012 Standard instance(s) with best practices
-

Migrate existing DB environment from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012 Standard
-

Assist in sizing of and recommendations for hardware/software environment for hosting SQL Server (VM/SAN/etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

-

SQL Server 2012 Standard - best practices for setup, maintenance, backup, failover, etc.
-

Migration from SQL 2005 to SQL Server 2012 Standard - like what 2005 things are no longer supported that will require query changes, how to test prior to cutover, etc.

SSRS setup, configuration, and migration from 2005 to 2012
-

VMWare and how to best virtualize an SQL Server 2012 Standard instance
-

(Nice to have) SAN storage experience - what type of storage, disk speeds, spindles, etc. and how to configure properly for high iops
-

(Nice to have) VM/SAN/Network togetherness - someone who knows how these things work together so that they are optimized
