Housing 21, a leading Housing Association, require a SQL Database Administrator on a 12 month basis, to be based in their Birmingham office.

Housing 21 is the UK's largest non-profit care provider and a national leader in innovative, affordable housing. Through established community links the organisation is focused on localised delivery and responding to the diverse needs of older people and their communities by developing a range of new support services. Their strength is in the range of quality services offered. These range from affordable rented homes to luxury apartments for sale; from help with shopping to specialist dementia and end of life care.

As part of the SQL Database Administrator role your main responsibilities will be to:

Be part of a team managing, supporting, and upgrading Housing 21's current SQL environment (2005/2008) to SQL 2012.
Develop and maintain a good understanding of all aspects of Housing 21 databases, Servers and the business systems they support
Continuously strives to improve knowledge and understanding of Housing 21 business systems so that the best possible service and support can be delivered to customers.
Regularly reviews and implements appropriate changes to the databases and Servers within remit, taking into consideration new technologies and business drivers.
Ensures the total security of all systems in terms of backup strategy and system access to meet both confidentiality and audit requirements.
Analyses data and provides statistical reports for service monitoring including downtime, Internet usage, Citrix reporting etc.
Provide support to the organisation's Sharepoint environment and the upgrading of Housing 21's Intranet

To be successful in your application for the SQL Database Administrator role you will:

Have a strong background in administering databases and Servers hosting databases. In particular Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access
Have the ability to troubleshoot issues to a third line support level on the corporate databases and associated applications systems.
Knowledge of techniques that can be employed in capacity management, availability management and continuity management such as risk assessment, analysis of single point of failure etc.
Have ideally been involved in large Data Migration projects
Some knowledge of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as pertains to service support and service delivery (desirable)
Some knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint will be highly desirable

Housing 21 are looking to bring new skill sets into the organisation and to increase the customer service mindset across the organisation.
