SQL Architect/Database Administrator

My client a well known managed service company are seeking an experience SQL The Database Architect/technical specialist. You will be responsible for performing database planning, installations, upgrades, performance analysis, and configurations for server database products in complex IT infrastucture environments.

Responsibilities include:

Perform core database administration functions such as:

- Perform database engine installation, start-up, shutdown, and recovery tasks
- Perform database user administration and enforce database security parameters
- Perform database networking configuration and administration
- Perform database capacity planning and storage administration
- Provide advanced Scripting techniques to automate processes and/or to troubleshoot developer's code to provide for database queries
- Performance tune and optimize database components (database and application Servers if applicable)
- Provide troubleshooting and issue resolution for all database components
- Perform database performance analysis, reporting, and configuration
- Participate with the design of stress, interoperability, integration and performance tests for new applications.
- Determine and enforce recommended (database) deployment, configuration, and setup methodologies for all database instance
- Participate in overall technical strategy as it relates to expansion and growth of the database footprint
- Participate in testing efforts pertaining to database schemas including migrations during upgrades
- Work to ensure maximum availability (99.9%) of all databases
- Install, administrate and support all database Application Server environments, if applicable
- Own and support the backup/recovery strategy, and also design and implement disaster recovery and high availability solutions
- Perform database and application software/patches in all database environments as needed
- Uphold all database security and change management guidelines, in accordance with internal policies

The suitable candidate must have a Minimum 5 years experience as a database administrator, with expert experience in current Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS technologies (2005, 2008 Standard and Enterprise). Microsoft Certification (MCDBA) preferred.

Candidates should also have the following professional skills for this role:

- Expert in SQL Server database administrator functions, including performance tuning, DB backup and recovery, capacity planning, replication, high availability, monitoring using SQL Server Management Studio or custom scripts, build/creation of databases
- Expert knowledge of SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) package development for ETL activities.
- Expert knowledge of data warehousing and data mining concepts, including design, development, testing, and deployment
- Expert knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedure, and trigger development
- Proficient knowledge designing, building, and maintaining clustered (MCS) SQL Server environments

- Must be able to support the Production database environment in in a 24/7, on-call capacity as needed
