New Directions Education is currently looking to recruit qualified special educational needs (SEN) teacher within a special school in Aston. The school offers broad and balanced education for young children with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Some children within the school also fall within the autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). You will be responsible for small classes and will coordinate any teaching assistants also in your class. The school educates children from nursery up to key stage 2.

The successful candidate must have previous experience working with children with severe learning difficulties (SLD), hearing impaired (HI), visually impaired (VI), PMLD and ASD. The school also caters for children who have physical difficulties and find there way around school using a wheel chair. The school is tailored for children that need wheel chair access and all staff are required to have manual handling and be hoist trained particularly for the children who have to use wheel chairs within the school, you will hold a current teaching qualification and be able to provide certificates of qualifications at registration. The school promotes a caring and stimulating environment where everyone is encouraged to achieve all they can, and where individual effort is valued and celebrated.

The role of a Special Educational Needs Teacher will require

A relevant SEN teaching qualification;
Ideally experience working in an SEN environment;
Recent experience in a classroom environment;
An excellent track record;
Good knowledge of the national curriculum;
Strong interpersonal and people management skills;
Flexibility and adaptability to work short-term and long-term.
