Proteus Europe is searching for a BI Specialist speaking Dutch available for a short term contract in the Netherlands

Your New role:-

Our Client intends to upgrade the current Microsoft Business Intelligence platform. Given the amount of work available, it is not possible for the customer to carry out the work at this time.

The client has the Microsoft BI environment below.

Production environment
- VNLVSV-VSQ12 - Windows 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 - MS Visual Studio 2008 Enterprise Edition - Management Information (Back End)
- VNLVSV-VSQ13 - Windows 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 - MS Visual Studio 2008 Enterprise Edition - Management Information (Frontend). License based on SQL Server Enterprise Edition, up to 4 vCPUs per VM
- The reports are published by means of A Microsoft SharePoint 2010 environment.

Development environment
- VNLVSV-VSQ12-Ontw - Windows 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 MS Visual Studio 2008 Enterprise Edition - Management Information (Back End)
- VNLVSV-VSQ13-Ontw - Windows 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 MS Visual Studio 2016 Enterprise Edition - Management Information (Backend)

Internal research has shown that it is not possible to upgrade the current environment software-based. It is necessary to build a new platform in addition to the current environment. The reason for this choice is that the current version of the operating system on which the environment is installed is not suitable for the new version of the Microsoft BI platform.
The environment unlocks reports and OLAP cubes for the internal client.

Desired situation

The customer intends to realize the situation below.

Production environment
- Windows 2012 R2, SQL Server 2016, MS Visual Studio 2016 Enterprise Edition - Management Information (Backend)
- Windows 2012 R2, SQL Server 2016, MS Visual Studio 2016 Enterprise Edition - Datawarehouse Frontend.
- Licensed with SQL Server Enterprise Edition, up to 4 VCPUs per VM
- The reports are published by means of A Microsoft SharePoint environment.

Test environment
- Windows 2012 R2, SQL Server 2016, MS Visual Studio 2016 Enterprise Edition - Management Information (Backend)
- Windows 2012 R2, SQL Server 2016, MS Visual Studio 2016 Enterprise Edition - Datawarehouse Frontend.
- Licensed with MSDN Visual Studio Enterprise for 4 users/developers

The above virtual Servers replace the existing Servers as mentioned in the current situation.

Service provider
- The organization aims to achieve the following results with the requested service.
- The desired situation provides the same functionalities, resources, reports and OLAP cubes as the current situation (development and production environment). For key figures relating to sources, packages and reports, see Annex I.
- The supplier installs the necessary BI functionality in the new environment as available in the current environment. The BI functionality is made available by the organization.
- The supplier unlocks based on the BI packages in the current situation
- the sources
- the data warehouse;
- the datamart;
- the reports and OLAP cubes.

In the test and production environment.
- The BI packages need to be converted from MS Visual Studio version 2008 R2 to MS Visual Studio version 2016. The conversion start point is the solution. The solution determines which packages are part of this. Possibly, the solution with matching packages can be converted at once. Please refer to this link for support. The choice is the supplier of the service which methodology is chosen.
- If the solutions functionality after conversion is not equal to the current situation, the supplier is expected to resolve the conversion problem.
- Some resources are not updated daily based on databases, but based on loose files. Delivery of these files is facilitated by a broker. The organization delivers knowledge and capacity to jointly enable this functionality on the new Servers.
- The supplier takes the initiative to realize a part-acceptance in production in accordance with the organization per delivered functionality. An example of a part-acceptance is that a number of coherent functionalities in the test and production environment have been provided (source closure - data warehouse - data report/OLAP cube presentation in Microsoft SharePoint).
- The supplier is responsible for arranging and executing the work in logical work packages.

Additional starting points technique:
- The virtual Servers as described are available and accessible to the supplier at the start of the command;
- The databases present on the SQL Servers have been copied by the organization from the current environment to the new environment;
