SOX Controller

Allegis Group Services are the onsite recruitment partner at RBS and manage all contract and temporary opportunities for RBS M&IB (Markets and International Banking).

Front to Back Unit:
The Markets FBU purpose is to monitor, review and challenge the control environment in order to identify improvements either through improved control framework or improved monitoring. The unit is aimed at delivering an improved process and governance for Controls Assurance, Control Environment and Front to Back Reporting, Control Framework and Improvements and is intrinsically linked to what has happened (Reporting), the controls currently in operation (Assurance) leading to individual projects/programmes (Improvements).

SOX CONTROL RELEVANCE:

- The related function's role is to work with Group Chief Accountants Sox 404 Office to identify the scope of coverage in terms of Balance Sheet and P&L required to meet RBS Group Sox requirements. This in turn is used to identify the businesses/countries and the functions in scope together with their controls.
- Additional to those controls that are Sox relevant, non-Sox controls are in scope for internal control purposes. The assurance team monitor these controls across Markets to ensure that all planned testing is completed and the status of which is delivered to the Control Environment Reporting team.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: This wide ranging and challenging role includes the following specific responsibilities

- Control and Process reviews - to challenge current 'as is' (including governance and documentation)
- Control Assurance - status management and reporting
- F2B program delivery to deadlines

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Experience working within Investment Banking - Audit and Financial Control, Statutory Consolidation or Group Reporting role/Similar role to this.
- Excellent understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards/SOX, Bank Financial statements.
- Past experience in investigating issues on an impartial basis and reporting to Senior Management with conclusions/recommendations
- Ideally knowledge of general ledger functionality, with ideally Walker and Hyperion experience
- Qualified Accountant
