Solutions Architect - Data

We require a Solutions Architect to act in the role of Technical Subject Matter Expert for data design and reporting for our next generation instructional learning and assessment platforms.The position requires strong technical skills in Datamodelling, data architecture and reporting. We also makes heavy use of non-relational data such as JSON and XML data sources so experience with NoSQL is important.The working environment requires diligence, energy and a practical approach to problem solving without losing sight of the strategic objectives. It is also very important to be a strong team player.

Responsibilities

Logical and Physical Data Architecture Analysis
Manage Guidelines and Best Practices for Datamodelling and database server and query optimisation.
Assist & support other teams (mainly Development and QA) and provide mentoring expertise to developers.
Knowledge of and experience applying NoSQL design and integration with relational and reporting systems.

Requirements:

Minimum of five years of leadership experience in data design and administration, architecture, and reporting.
Experience with Data Analysis and Data Profiling.
Hands on experience indexing, partitioning and data design performance considerations for industry standard DBMS (Oracle and/or SQL Server)
Understanding of data warehousing design and development best practices.
Understanding of ETL design and development best practices
Strong Datamodelling skills, including a deep understanding of relational and multi-dimensional database designs and the normalization levels of operational data stores and data marts.
Experience of interfacing with project management
Ability to write moderate to complex database queries needed to investigate data issues, repair damaged data, and migrate data to new structures.
