Solutions Architect

The Solutions Architect is responsible for the development and on-going update of the Technical Architecture for our client. This will assist the organisation to derive maximum business benefit from its technology and deliver on core services.

The Solutions Architect will contribute to the design and development of the ICT technical architecture through aligning the business strategy with ICT, defining the architecture and technology standards for all applications and infrastructure across the organisation, analysis of market trends, assessing the impact of technology change to the client and documenting roadmaps.

THE ROLE:

- Contribute to the ICT Strategic Plan across all domains including business and operational IT systems, communications and supporting infrastructure.
- Development and maintenance of Technical Architecture and solutions for applications and infrastructure and its key artefacts.
- Development of standards and policies, ensuring that these standards and policies are published and updated when required.
- Analysis and evaluation of emerging technologies and assessment value to the client's ICT environment.
- Assess and communicate the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits and opportunities of IT solutions.
- Develop and implement strategies for reducing the complexity of information systems in a cost effective manner, for example by decreasing the number of applications or moving away from Legacy systems.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

- Proven ability to apply conceptual and strategic thinking and planning in order to generate positive and effective ICT strategies, architecture and solutions which enhance service delivery and contribute to broader organisational outcomes.
- Demonstrated high level ability to understand, analyse and manage complex business processes and develop suitable enabling enterprise, business and technical architecture.
- A sound knowledge of systems engineering principles and the ability to apply them in the context of our client's environment.
- A sound knowledge of systems engineering or technology standards and practices that will apply to the client's Systems and Infrastructure.
- The ability to investigate complex technical problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team on assigned tasks.
- Be able to communicate clearly, succinctly on technical issues and at the appropriate level both orally and in writing.
