Solution Delivery Manager (DV)

WORK OVERVIEW

To work on an internal desktop migration project

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage delivery of the end-to-end solution
- Day-to-day management of the solution delivery teams (business Analysis, Architecture, Infrastructure & Development, Security and Service Management)
- Prepare Plans for the solution delivery workstream and agree these with the project manager
- Manage the delegation of design and delivery activities to the delivery team leads
- Manage resolution of delivery and design issues relating to the dependencies on other projects and wider systems of interest, and business requirements
- Receive authorisation from the Project Manager to create products
- Motivate, plan and monitor the delivery teams work
- Take responsibility for the progress of the delivery team's work and use the teams resources, initiating corrective action where necessary within the constraints laid down by the project manager
- Advise the Project Manager of any deviations from plan, recommend recovery action and help prepare appropriate exception reports and plans
- Deliver to the project manager products that have been completed and approved in line with the agreed requirements
- Ensure all project issues relevant to the solution delivery are properly reported to the PSO
- Contribute to and support any project assurance activities
- Attend any stage assessments
- Arrange and lead team checkpoint meetings and produce checkpoint reports as agreed with the project manager
- Ensure that quality controls of the team's work are planned and performed correctly
- Ensure that appropriate entries are made in the quality log.
- Identify and advise the Project Manager and System Design Authority of any risks associated with the solution delivery
- Ensure that all identified risks as directed by the project manager
- Oversee delivery of change control process for desktop refresh solution releases
- Oversee transition of corporate applications to the refreshed operating systems
- Manage assessment of thick client RFC's from a technical and security perspective
- Stand in for the project manager in their absence

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

- Experience of managing the end-to-end delivery of IT solutions from a Legacy system to a new one
- Desktop migration/refresh project experience
- Experience of Quality Control
- Experience of Quality Control
- Experience of managing Risks and Issues
- Experience of monitoring and motivating mixed teams of staff and contractors
- Experience of the Day-to-Day management of the solution delivery teams (Business Analysis, Architecture, Infrastructure & Development, Security and Service Management)
- Experience of managing the delivery workstreams - risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies
