This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012.
This is a 2-3 month contract opportunity.Overview
Our Client requires a Solution Architect to design a solution and create a deployment plan for the development of a secured laptop for their employees who travel abroad.
The solution will be based on off-the-shelf software and hardware with no custom development anticipated. The work can be completed on a part time base or while the resource is engaged in another contract. The time line for the project will be September -October with an estimated 200-300 hours of work to complete. Occasional on-site work in the Client's downtown office will be required to gather information and report on progress.Role and Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Architecture and the Director of IT Security, the Solution Architect will be responsible for researching, designing, and presenting a feasible solution to secure Enbridge's network while Employees travel abroad.
Responsibilities include:
- Understand, analyze & document the functional & non-functional Business requirements
- Develop use cases
- Define technical solution architecture to meet Business requirements and ensure appropriate sizing of the technologies
- Provide the estimates of costs & resources for delivering the technical solution
- Review and approve technical design specifications to ensure they are aligned with the technical solution architecture
- Address technical architectural issues throughout the construction of the solutions to ensure that it remains true to the defined technical solution architecture.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of IT Security practices and understanding how to build solutions with security as a key element
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure & networks
- Demonstrable experience in IT Architecture & design (min 7-10 years).
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of system development practices and methodologies
- Developing requirements and Use Cases
- Ability to create clear and concise documentation
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Self-directed (will be working largely off site).
