Background
Capita are recruiting for a Lawyer to work within a Central Government client on a contract basis. This role is based in Bristol.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Providing legal advice in relation to generic and case specific matters arising from National Infrastructure work including complex compulsory acquisition, Habitats, and EIA related issues.. advising on the wording of draft DCOs prepared by applicants and revised by ExAs and where appropriate and relevant, draft amended/new wording for such Orders. Providing legal advice relating to High Court challenges to inspectors' decisions. providing advice in relation to queries on matters of law arising on planning and enforcement casework (covering matters such as validity of appeals, lawfulness of conditions and planning obligations, costs and EIA development)

Skills and Experience Required
Good knowledge and practical experience of planning law, including compulsory purchase orders, and related areas such as highways and environmental law and experience of High Court claims processes. Ability to provide advice that may be contentious, sensitive and challenging to deliver, in established and untested statutory frameworks. Wide experience of and ability to draft complex legal documents and provide accurate and high quality advice.

Formal Qualifications Required
Qualified solicitor or barrister. Experience as planning lawyer or extensive relevant public law experience
