KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Purpose    

Incident management and change management for all UNIX related tasks.
Troubleshooting performance management tasks.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills
Actively suggests changes that help reducing repeated issues.
Able to adapt to changing business requirements and react quickly
Able to learn technical concepts quickly and apply them effectively.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Should be experienced in working in ITIL based tools (like Remedy)
Should have experience in Linux, Solaris and AIX.
Should have experience in file-system management of all three OS.
Should have experience in hardware troubleshooting of all three OS.
Unix/Linux OS management, support and troubleshooting
Clustering knowledge of  any one Solaris, Linux and AIX
Should have knowledge of DNS, NIS and LDAP.
Should have knowledge of Shell Scripting.
Understanding of SAN and NAS storage.
Patch management and Package management of all three OS.
Experience in Jumpstart installation of all three OS.
Should have good communication and customer interaction skills.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting (problem determination/resolution) skills.
Optimize environment to ensure maximum system availability, performance and reliability.
Knowledge of ITIL or equivalent processes (Incident, Change Process and Problem Management) is a must

TECHNOLOGY BUZZWORDS:

Solaris, Linux, AIX, Sun Cluster, Veritas Cluster, Apache, DNS and LDAP
Tools: Tivoli performance viewer, Remedy, Word, Visio, Excel etc.
Sunfire Servers, M series Servers, P Series Server and X86.
Knowledge of Storage product suits like EMC (VMAX2, VNX 5000, Clariion - Cx4, Centera A33EA), NetApp (FAS 6000 series, FAS 3000 series, FAS 2000 series)
Knowledge of Backup products like TSM, NetBackup, Networker.
