Software Test Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Tests and validates the performance and functionality of a device to tune, transcode, copy, and/or stream audio and video content from a cable RF feed to multiple clients.
- Coordinates, develops, and implements test plans/procedures to verify functional requirements.
- Configures test environment and executes regression tests on product.
- Coordinates test activities with other engineers and other sites.
- Documents defects found and provides feedback to developers and other team members.

SKILLS
Must have BSEE or equivalent with 4+ years experience. Experience with test methodology is required. Must understand principles of data communications, video, and CATV, and also have a solid understanding of TCP/IP and networking protocols used in multicast video transmission/streaming over IP network (HLS). Must understand video technologies such as formats, bit-rates, encoding, compression, and streaming, as well as an understanding of MPEG2/4 transport streams, and.mp4 files and cable transmission standards and testing. Knowledge of Linux and Windows-based operating systems is needed. Knowledge of Microsoft tools (ie Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, etc.) is essential. Must have solid skills in troubleshooting and Test Equipment.

Knowledge of
- Mobile App development is a plus; experience with Python Scripting a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are critical.
- Must be able to work under minimum supervision.
