Software Test Engineer

Our client is the Northwest's signature software company seeking an Engineer that will work with a custom test environment for a team of about 300 people. The custom test environment includes virtual machines, various handheld devices such as ARM devices, smart phones, etc. This position will be responsible for assisting with Tier 1 support of the environment, which will include product installation failures, environment maintenance such as patching, machine provisioning, etc. It is a hybrid type position that will require a fair amount of hardware and OS knowledge along with the intense curiosity of a more traditional STE.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Oversee the building of test environments using product team's in-house tool set
- Follow the list of required environments and quantities to build
- Ensure that all are built completely and on time in order to facilitate test passes and development needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience installing operating system(s) from source (ie CD/WDS based install)
- Familiarity with Hyper-V
- Ability to write and run semi-complex SQL queries
- Ability to read and understand various product installation logs (such as SQL Server, System Center Config Manager)
- Ability to write simple step-by-step documentation
- Initiative to work productively with limited supervision

This contract position is expected to be 1 year in duration.
