Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Develops clinical trial application test scripts.

- Ensures clinical trial applications supporting trial data acquisition and data integration function as design.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
- Independently creates test scripts to test the design and functionality of clinical trial applications.
- Independently executes test scripts that compose clinical trial application test plan.
- Tests all clinical trial applications designed to support trial data acquisition and data integration.
- Supports user acceptance testing and clinical acceptance testing for trials.
- Ensures consistency of functionality of clinical trial applications against design specifications.
- Provides testing support for post-production changes.
- Identifies needed updates to clinical trial application interface or functionality.
- Escalates application issues to Data Analyst, Interface Designer and/or Data Warehouse Analyst as appropriate.
- Liaises with the Data Analyst, Interface Designer and Data Warehouse Analyst.
- Effectively communicates progress of testing.
- Supports the execution of all DSS processes involved in the locking of the clinical-trial database for trials.
- Reports to the Systems Operations Manager.
- Accountable for timely and accurate testing of all clinical trial applications developed to support trial data acquisition and data integration.
- Accountable for ensuring consistency of clinical trial applications per associated design specifications.
- Accountable for ensuring consistency across similar clinical trial applications.
- Accountable for supporting and utilizing Data Sciences policies and procedures.
- Accountable for full execution of the testing plan.
- Accountable for timely escalation of application issues discovered during testing.

SKILLS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION

- Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, life sciences or equivalent is required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED

- Must have 4+ years of experience with data management systems used in clinical trials.
- Demonstrated intermediate SQL and PL/SQL skills.
- Experience developing and executing test scripts for multi-technology platforms.
- Data management experience is desirable.
- 7+ years experience in Software Quality Assurance.
- Well versed in manual and automation testing ie, Mercury's, Win Runner, Test Director, LoadRunner.
- Able to write test plans, test procedures, test cases and execute test cases.
- Able to setup and conduct regression tests.
- Is familiar with the current state-of-the art regarding testing and software quality assurance, Knowledge of relational databases.
- Familiarity with Windows 2000.
- Knowledge of test automation approaches, processes and tools including maintenance of the automated test systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in testing Client Server and browser-based software.
- Experience in Crystal Reports, networks and the hospital industry are pluses.
- Experience testing component based in software is a plus.
