Software Project Leader (m/w)

Projektbeschreibung

Aufgaben:

* The Software Project Leader (SPL) in Application Engineering is responsible for the successful development of automotive software products and leads the software development team from concept to production within project and company mandated targets.

* The Software Project Leader is the key interface for all software engineering topics including software specification & requirements as well as software verification.

* A specific focus is the coordination within a consortium of external HW and SW suppliers and the OEM.

* Responsible for the software development in an assigned project.

* Own the software design. Review and approve engineering work products.

* Develop effort estimates and engineering timing plans per internal and external milestones, expected work products, and product deliveries.

* Manage and support the negotiation of system requirements, change requests, and unwritten requirements.

* Attend customer project meetings

* Review, track, communicate and approve software test status

* Leads the activities to ensure software engineering work products and any other relevant deliverables are released per project’s configuration management and timing plans, and are in compliance with the product development process and customer expectations.

* Coordination of an external SW team at worldwide locations

* Negotiate and maintain a responsibility matrix for a global SW development program.

* Coordination of the Magna portion of a product development with various global HW and SW suppliers according to the responsibility matrix.

* Responsible for tracking the software defects and change requests

* Responsible to communicate software status using dashboards, charts and reports to management.

* Manage software risks. Report status, prepare contingency and mitigation plans and execute corrective actions.

* Initiates escalation of unmitigated software issues to the technical project leader and/or program management.

* Lead and prioritize day-to-day activities of the software project team.

* Ensures engineering targets (quality, delivery timing, performance) for software deliverables are met on-time.

* Responsible for releasing the software deliverables with all needed work products to the technical project leader and the manufacturing team (Release Notes, Software Test Reports, First Article)

* Participates in continuous improvement efforts, researches, recommends and initiates implementation of enhancements to products, processes and programs.

* Reviews and approves decisions made by the software project team

* Able to operate with limited direction

* Dotted line leadership of the software team members, providing critical employee developmental and performance feedback to the administrative managers.

Skills:

* Minimum of 10 years’ deep and relevant experience regarding the responsibility / activities in serial development. Automotive software development experience (mandatory).

* Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a software leadership role is desired. Leading a global team is a plus

* Proven track record of successful launches of automotive software products

* Deep and comprehensive knowledge of software development engineering practices in automotive field including software architectures

* Deep and comprehensive knowledge with operating systems on MCU, ARM or FPGA

* Demonstrated decision making capability with a strong software background

* Able to use diverse and extensive experience to quickly learn, demonstrate technical aptitude and execute on complex technical assignments and products.

* Strong technical background. Deep and comprehensive working knowledge in embedded C/C++ Development

* Deep and comprehensive working knowledge in structured engineering approaches

* Deep and comprehensive working knowledge of structured problem solving

* Comprehensive working knowledge of configuration management, project planning, monitoring and control techniques.

* Able to work effectively in a global environment

* Able to lead and motivate a diverse team

* Able to represent technical topics internally and externally

* Excellent communication skills to all internal and external interfaces

* Travel (domestic and international) may be needed

* Positive attitude and self-motivated under all working conditions (thrives under pressure).

* Advanced knowledge of MS Office package

* Comprehensive knowledge of analysis and engineering tools (i.e. requirement, change and configuration management tools, document control and archiving tools, modelling and analysis tools, etc.)
