Our client is one of the most popular financial services in the world seeking a Software Engineer with strong knowledge of Java Web Services and developing the serving layer for data computed out of Hadoop. Expert ability with Hadoop related technologies is required (Map/Reduce, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Oozie, Hadoop infrastructure etc.). Knowledge of Machine learning techniques and/or algorithms is a plus

This Sr. Developer will develop applications on the client's big data platform. S/He will also develop Web Services on AIX to serve the data computed on the big data platform. Strong proficiency in processing very large data sets and performing complex transforms and joins between them is required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required
- 6-10+ years experience required

SKILLS

- Expert ability on Hadoop related technologies a must (Map/Reduce, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Oozie, Hadoop infrastructure etc.)
- Strong knowledge of Java Web Services and developing a serving layer for data computed out of Hadoop required
- Expert knowledge of the full software development life cycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery required
- Expert ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills required
- Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time required
