IHRE AUFGABEN:

-Assist the team in developing and extending (Java SE) software prototypes for processing and analysis of large amounts of data
-Design, implement and test simplicity-focused and efficient user interfaces for prototypes
-User interfaces will mainly be used to (1) load and define input data sets, (2) configure and execute algorithms on the data sets and (3) analyse the resulting changes in the output data sets
-Based on technical expertise, suggest suiting technologies (e. g. HTML5 via Java EE) to put user interfaces into practice and to visualise changes between input and output data sets
-Define adequate abstraction levels to help new users and experts make efficient use of the prototypes and to hide the technical details of the complex algorithms used inside the prototypes
-Help integrating novel software components and algorithms into the prototypes
-Assist the team in rapid prototyping of optimisations for existing algorithms and optimally come up with own ideas for optimisations
-Improve and extend the software architecture
-Optimally demonstrate the practicability of the prototypes by designing expressive data mining and machine learning examples

IHRE QUALIFIKATIONEN:

-Solid experience in software development with Java EE
-Demonstrated experience in user interface design and usability
-Excellent understanding of the time-memory trade-off
-Experience in software architecture design
-Demonstrated ability to optimise algorithms or to solve challenging engineering problems in general is a plus
-Experience in anonymisation algorithms, data mining techniques, statistics, visualisation of large amounts of data or parallel algorithms is beneficial
-Written and spoken English language skills are required
