Software Engineer/Java Developer

Next Ventures is currently looking for a Software Engineer/Java Developer to join a long-term project with a leading tech company in Rome.

Role Description:

- Design of software components for customer Videoscape deployments based on customer and project requirements.
- Development of software components for customer Videoscape deployments.
- Testing and documenting for all developments.
- Supporting installation teams during deployment and customer acceptance testing of the developments.

Required Skills and Competencies:

- In-depth knowledge of the JAVA programming language
- In-depth knowledge of JAVA Enterprise Edition (JEE) technology
- Familiar with one or more software design and development methodologies.
- Good knowledge of REST & SOAP web services, especially implementation in a JEE application.
- Good (user) knowledge of Linux.

Basic understanding of digital video platforms:

- Encoding
- Electronic program guide
- Encryption & digital rights management
- Content delivery networks.

Familiarity with the following technologies:

- Relational databases & SQL
- SEAM 2
- JBOSS Application Server 5.x
- Hibernate
- JAVA Persistence API (JPA)
- Enterprise Service Bus (JBOSS ESB preferred)

Experience:

- At least 5 years of experience in JAVA software development.
- At least 5 years of experience in JAVA Enterprise software development (Servlets, JSP, JSF, EJB).
- Familiar with the Eclipse IDE for JAVA/JEE development.

Other requirements:

- Good verbal and written knowledge of English
- Knowledge of Italian would be a strong asset
- Availability to work in Rome for the entire project duration
