Software Engineer in the field of Service Management

FUNCTIONS

As Software Engineer in the IT-DI-SM Section, you will:

- Implement and maintain Service Management processes in the CERN ITSM system.
- Develop, document and deploy integration to other systems.
- Take part in the day-to-day operational support.
- Plan, test and document new releases.
- Contribute to standardisation and automation of business workflows.
- Provide training and documentation to users.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

Master's degree in the field of Computing, or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

The experience required for this post is:

- Demonstrated experience with a modern ITSM tool and a very good understanding of ITIL or similar best-practices framework for Service Management.
- Practical knowledge of a SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT LIFE-CYCLE concept.
- Practical experience with relational database and Web technology.
- Familiarity with User and service support.
- Team work and collaborations, preferably within an international environment.

The technical competencies required for this post are:

- Database/repository design: very good understanding and experience with relational database technology.
- Programming/software development: extensive knowledge of Scripting languages, web services, software development processes and techniques.
- Testing: understanding of the concurrent life cycle process of engineering in order to measure and improve quality of software.
- Porting/software integration: understanding the principles of incremental and logical integration of components in order to create operational services.
