Software Engineer (Devops - AWS - Hadoop - Nginx)

My client is seeking a seniore software engineer to build out a robust system to detect and manage bot traffic hitting their live site. This is a critical effort to ensure they are able to protect their customers from the effects of unwanted traffic consuming system capacity. You'll work with the Operations, Security and Engineering teams to define and build scalable solutions to detect, categorize and isolate bot traffic so it can be managed in Real Time. Their systems are designed to handle millions of transactions per hour and operate in both the cloud and data center environments 24X7, so the bot detection solutions must be robust, scalable and reliable under all conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Collaborate with Operations and Engineering stakeholders to define requirements, design and implement software solutions for detecting and managing "bot" traffic on Expedia's site.
. Design and implement highly scalable, robust and reliable applications in both Cloud (AWS) and data center environments
. Define and implement efficient, high velocity release capability
. Develop and deploy efficient automated testing infrastructure to validate solutions
. Provide clear, usable documentation and instruction for deployment and maintenance of bot management systems

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
. Demonstrated experience developing and deploying applications in a public Cloud environment (AWS)
. Hands-on experience interacting with Big Data implementations, ie Hadoop, Spark, Storm and Redis
. Experience working with NGINX as a Proxy
. Proficiency in Java and related open source technologies
. Demonstrated understanding of eCommerce communication architectures content delivery and traffic flows
. Experience with deployment automation - Chef, Jenkins, Git, etc.
