Project description:
The Design Data Management (DDM) team supports various applications that enables the worldwide designer community to collaborate in an effective way and ensure high quality designs of new products. The DDM team provides a number of off the shelf' applications to support Configuration Management and Change Control, Requirements Management and Project/Portfolio Management. Approximately 5500 R&D Engineers located on the various sites worldwide use the applications that are offered by the DDM team.

The main challenges for 2016/2017 for the DDM team will be to support the merger that recently has become effective. Due to this merger the R&D community will grow to 12000 engineers and data migrations and application optimizations will be required to support the much larger user community. Within the DDM team we are looking for a software developer to strengthen the team.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER WITH AFFECTION FOR CONFIGURATION AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT THAT WILL:

- Participate in various (integration) projects as software developer
- Analyze and implement changes
- Evaluate and test upgrades and new functionality on applications in scope
- Execute general software development tasks, building small applications/scripts
- Support to the designers in the business units how to use the custom scripts and reports we developed
- Able to determine the severity of a reported issue.
- Able to determine what the impact is for the running platform when a fix is applied.
- Able to execute root cause analysis.

SPECIFIC JOB CHARACTERISTICS:

- Working in a fast changing environment.
- Working in a diverse environment with direct interaction with the designers in the different business units.
- Working on a diverse set of software development activities:
- Participate in various projects as software engineer (script development, reports, triggers, migrations)
- Independently work on changes (eg report development)
- Guide engineers how to extract data themselves and build their own custom reports/scripts.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

- Strong software development and Scripting skills (SQL, Python, JAVA, Shell Scripting)
- Good knowledge of Subversion and other configuration management tools and ways of working.
- Understanding of software design in general as well as the related development flows.
- Experienced in working with Linux environments
- Experience with issue tracking workflows and systems
- Knowledge of web architectures and web technologies.
- Knowledge of the CollabNet TeamForge ALM platform
- Knowledge about ITIL processes
- Project language: English/Dutch

- Energetic, eager, analytical
- Able to analyze and resolve issues in a structured way.
