Software Engineer - C/C++

Software Engineer - C, C++, SAN, Perl, Scripting, Unix, Embedded, low level - Hampshire

My client, a leading FTSE 100 organisation is currently looking to recruit a Software Engineer to join an ongoing project.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

* Development of SAN product software.
* Design, code and unit test of new function, as well as working on root cause analysis and fixes for issues discovered during functional and system test.
* Working closely with both local and remotely located test teams.

Essential Requirements:
* Software development practices and methodology.
* Coding - C, C++ essential, preferably with knowledge in Embedded or Real Time environments. Java useful but non essential.
* Scripting - PERL, Unix Shell script (KSH, BSH., BASH)
* Good understanding of Linux ( Any flavour ), preferably at an administration level,
* Understanding of software build processes
* Understanding of functional and system test methodology
* Knowledge of Storage Area Networks ( SAN ) hardware, fibre-channel arbitrated loop and Switches
* Knowledge of disk storage hardware particularly IBM but Hitachi, EMC, HP/Compaq also useful

Useful but non essential
* Knowledge of CMVC
* Knowledge of SAN management software especially TPC ( Tivoli)
* Knowledge of IBM server hardware especially IBM pSeries, xSeries
* Knowledge of operating system administration, particularly managing storage, on any of the following : Unix(AIX, Solaris, HPUX), Windows, VMWare, Linux, Netware
* Knowledge of any of the following operating system clustering technologies: HACMP, GPFS, Veritas, MSCS and Linux Cluster
