The role will be based within the ISIS Computing Business Apps team at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, near Oxford.

THE ROLE

You will be involved in all aspects of the software development throughout the project life cycle, from initial requirements analysis through to maintenance. Your responsibilities will include:

* Working with fellow Software Engineers in the team to  design, code, test and deploy software.

* Delivering significant software modules.

* Working with customers as they try out and accept our applications, advising and assisting as necessary.

* BSc (min 2.1) in a technology-related discipline (or equivalent qualification or experience).

* Solid understanding of the theory underpinning object-oriented programming and relational databases.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment supporting a national and international community of more than 2000 scientists for research into subjects ranging from clean energy and the environment, pharmaceuticals and health care, through to nanotechnology, materials engineering and IT. You will occasionally get the opportunity to travel around the UK, Europe and further afield.

You will further your own skills and experience through the projects on which you will work and we will provide you with the support and training that you need to progress in your job and advance your career.
