Job Introduction

A fantastic opportunity to work in developing applications for either IOS or Android. We want to transform the BBC for an interactive, on-demand world and find new ways of reaching audiences wherever they are, with new formats across PC, TV and Mobile Devices.

As part of BBC Future Media, Children's Games Stream is part of a world class multidisciplinary team of creative developers working with teams across the BBC to produce amazing interactive experiences. Role Responsibility

We're developing content to exist across multiple platforms, using a wide range of technologies, to inspire and entertain our younger audiences. This role is an ideal opportunity to work with internal and external teams on extremely high profile products used by an audience of millions.

You will be involved in the development and support of the products and services working with teams from different areas of Future Media, Editorial and UX; as well as with external agencies.

We are looking for those with a passion for investigating technical innovations, as well as being thorough in addressing quality and maintenance of existing products.

You will have an understanding of agile delivery practices, as well as more traditional delivery methodologies. You are very much a communicator and team player who understands what is required to support treasured products such as CBBC and CBeebies. The Ideal Candidate

What do you need?

- Objective C or Java with a solid understanding of OOP, analysis and design
- Advise on, create and support development of apps and games for Children's BBC.
- To keep up to date with new developments in web/mobile game technology particularly those related to mobile devices.
- To guide production teams and suppliers on technical aspects of app development including providing timely adoption of documentation and assistance with problem resolution from commission to launch.
- Work closely with QA to maintain existing apps and games; conduct Technical Reviews of code and ensure the standards and guidelines applied to all BBC online output are adhered to.

Key Skills:

- Experience of native application environments and architectures
- Proven experience of games creation and delivery
- A track record of producing maintainable code within collaborative environments
- Understanding of the full apps deployment process
- Ability to rapidly acquire new software skills and to work with new technologies
- An enjoyment of working in and with high performing teams
- A constant desire to improve ways of working and best practices
- Experience with Agile/Scrum project management methodologies
