Software Engineer

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out activities covering the full software life cycle development:

- Requirements analysis/definition (using DOORS and/or Artisan Studio)
- Software Design (SysML/UML using Artisan Studio)
- Coding (Embedded C and some assembly)
- Debugging/Integration (using in circuit emulators)
- Formal Testing - unit, integration & software/system testing (using test tools, where appropriate)
- Requirement & Verification Traceability
- Software documentation and review activities
- Software maintenance eg perform fault investigation
- Configuration Management activities
- Plus other non specific software engineering activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Technical Skills:

- Graduate in engineering or science subject (or significant experience and proven track record)
- Embedded Software Design (ideally using SysML/UML)
- Embedded Real Time C
- Full software life cycle experience
- Appreciation of HW/SW interfaces and basic electronics

Required Experience:

- Significant experience of developing and/or maintaining complex Embedded software.
- Experience of team leading and/or technical responsibility of software developments.

Desirable Experience:

- RTCA DO-178B/C, or working to other defined and rigorous processes and standards
- Safety critical software development
- Use of RTOS (eg VxWorks)
- Interfaces/protocols: ARINC 429, MIL STD 1553, AFDX, TCP/IP, Http, UDP
- Software testing principles
