SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO 12 MONTH CONTRACT, EXTENSION POSSIBLE

MUST HAVE SKILLS: Candidates must have 5+ years of Unix experience, preferably Scripting. Must also have 5+ years of Java experience.

NICE TO HAVE: Any experience with FICO Falcon fraud management. Also a plus if they have experience with system tuning.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 40% modifying and writing scripts or designing. 30% implementation and management of vendor applications. 30% vendor support - answering questions and troubleshooting.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Business Leader for Risk Application Development. The successful candidate will be part of a team to design and develop complex Unix applications, SQL queries and stored procedures to integrate with FICO Falcon application.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving incidents during the software development life cycle.
- Interface directly with staff members of Development, Product Management, Project Management, and Quality Assurance.
- Analyze and develop applications using PERL and Unix Shell Scripts, Java and PL/SQL to support the UNIX environments.
- Design, develop, document and implement new functionality, as well as enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software.
- Develop unit tests and oversee execution on newly developed components.
- Create documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Build and maintain relationships with global and virtual teams on software development or support issues.
- Work as part of a development team and establish close working relationships with stake holders, quality assurance, architects, as well as management.
- Understand the positioning of a solution within the company and to build a plan to effectively gain buy-in from all participants.
- Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes.
- Prepare design documents; evaluate and recommend solutions to meet user requirements; define and implement solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5 to 8 years of professional experience in all phases of software development life cycle including project management, functional requirements definition, technical design, development, testing, quality assurance, system certification, systems implementation and system validation
- Experience with PERL and Unix Shell Scripting
- Experience with Java programming
- Experience developing in an Oracle RAC; Microsoft SQL Server experience a plus
- Experience with FICO Falcon a plus
- Development experience in a cross-platform, multi-tier environment
- In-depth knowledge of the software development life cycle required
- Ability to develop code that follows established coding guidelines
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to present complex ideas and document in a clear and concise way

- Quick learner; self-starter, detailed and thorough
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or other technical discipline; advanced degree preferred
