Software Development Engineer

Are you a self-starting, self-directing Software Development Engineer who is creative and passionate about designing, developing, implementing and operating multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services?

To support rapid expansion of their businesses, our client is investing in building a new platform to enable accounting operation and compliance. Scale, efficiency and predictability are the key driving attributes of this effort and we are looking for strong engineers to build out the systems that form the core pieces of handling financial transactions in their E-commerce platform. With this team there is a "best-of-both-worlds" scenario of a startup atmosphere combined with the resources of a large company and the opportunity to gain an end-to-end understanding of how the business works, from a financial transaction perspective. You will work with engineers and leaders in other parts of the company, focusing building systems that enable Foreign Exchange Transactions on the company's payment platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be working in a heterogeneous environment of different languages and technologies and bring flexibility, speed and quality to our team. You will be building systems that deal with huge amounts of data in a reliable, accurate and expedient manner. If you have an inclination to learn about Financial transactions and how accounting works for a business, and want to apply your technical skills to solve problems in that space, this is the opportunity for you.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years of professional experience in software development
- Proficiency in at least one modern Object Oriented programming language such as Java or C++
- Good understanding of CS fundamentals, data structures and algorithms
- Working knowledge of UNIX or Linux systems
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills
- Obsession with quality and customer experience
- Attention to detail coupled with ability to think abstractly
- Excellent problem solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
- Experience in development of multi-threaded Server Side applications
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Familiarity with financial systems and accounting principles will be a bonus

This contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration with possibility of Contract to Hire.
