Software Development Engineer

Our high-visibility client's Social Media Advertising team is seeking talented Software Engineers to seed a new team focused on driving traffic through sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. The team will build and manage systems which enable large scale advertising targeting the unique ecosystem of Social Media. Our team will drive the leading edge of innovation in the challenging world of display advertising in the context of the Social Media experience.

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to build and extend a wide range of large scale, multi-tiered, distributed systems. In the near term, we're building self-optimizing ad personalization engines that enable rapid experimentation, massive data crunching and adaptive algorithms.

The right candidate is expected have a strong drive for results, good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. S/He should be fully capable of understanding complex systems and developing high scale, high availability, distributed systems. The candidate will also be expected to contribute significantly to the design, implementation, testing and delivery of new automated advertising services. These services will drive our client's display business by serving highly relevant ads with high levels of performance, scalability, and flexibility.

As a founding member on a new team, you will have a chance to have a ground-up impact on the systems, client business and most importantly, the customers as you help take marketing programs to the next level. You will apply your Java development skills, design and deploy new services, and solve non-trivial optimization problems. This is a hands-on position where you will be asked to do everything from build rock-solid components to formulate strategy and evangelize technology, lead group-wide architectural changes, mentor other Engineers and provide training and support for services and applications.

Successful candidates must be innovative, flexible, self-directed, and able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional business and software development teams to solve critical business problems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ year relevant work experience
- 4+ years professional experience in software development
- Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
- Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
- Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
- Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such
- RDMS experience in Oracle preferred
- Familiarity with Scripting technologies such as Ruby, Perl or Shell Scripting as well as XML and HTTP protocols, distributed systems and asynchronous messaging technology a plus

This contract position is expected to be about 5 months in duration.
