SOFTWARE DEVELOPER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in SCHENECTADY, NY

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- At least one (1) year experience developing desktop software using C# and WPF
- Seven (7) years of software development experience
- Knowledge of version control and database concepts

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- As a member of a team, develop a user interface and calculation engine for a commercial desktop software application for electric power engineering. The user interface of the application in C# with WPF implementing common design patterns. The application makes use of Syncfusion Essential Studio components as well as standard WPF components. The application engine is written in C. The vast majority of work for the position will be in C#; however, adaptability and willingness to work in C to support some features is desirable for the position
- Convert written specifications and improvement reports into concise, well-performing, elegant code with appropriate unit tests
- Develop user interface components with a focus on performance, ease-of-use, and a positive user experience
- Participate in code reviews as both a developer and a software expert in order to suggest improvements to team members' work
- Support parallel computing efforts where appropriate
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and software users on a timely basis

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- At least one (1) year professional experience developing desktop software in C# and WPF as a member of a team
- Bachelor's degree in any technical discipline; including engineering, information systems, computer science, mathematics, or physics or seven (7+) years related experience
- Basic knowledge of version control and database concepts

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with a distributed version control system (Mercurial or Git)
- Experience developing for Google Earth or Google Maps
- Experience with Syncfusion Essential Studio
- Experience programming large-scale applications in C
- Knowledge of electric power engineering concepts
- Knowledge of the electric power industry
