Software Developer (Java, Oracle Forms, Reports, Database, Testing, PL/SQL, JEE, JSF, Oracle RDBMS, Smooks)
You will report to the Director of Software Development and liaise with Project Managers, Project Team Management and Member(s) including technical and administrative staff
ROLEenvisioning system features and functionality.
- Designs and develops software applications by setting expectations and features priorities throughout development life cycle;
- Determines design/development methodologies, patterns and tool sets; writing code for software products;
- Designs and conducts quality assurance tests.
- Completes application development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
- Develops documentation and assistance tools.
- Updates job knowledge by researching new frameworks/technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations.
- Enhances organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
COMPETENCIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, technical writing skills, effective communication skills, multi-tasking and time-management skills, organisation skills and interpersonal skills.
- Highly technologically savvy with experience working with various JEE frameworks such as JSF, EJB, JMS, Smooks/JAXB, WS-*, XML, SQL, Oracle RDBMS, MS SQL Server.
- Experience working with Oracle Forms and Reports
- Understanding and hands-on knowledge of utility tools such as Ant, Maven and Subversion as well as various operating systems such as Linux and MS Windows are also in asset.
- Additional experience in .NET frameworks is an asset
- A successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in mathematics, information systems or software engineering systems, computer science, computer programming or a related discipline.
- Continuing education is required in this field to keep up with changing technologies. BS in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or equivalent
- Three to five years database and application development experience
- Two plus years Oracle Forms, Reports, database, and PL/SQL experience is preferred
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- A successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in mathematics, information systems or software engineering systems, computer science, computer programming or a related discipline.
