Software Developer for Retail Analytics

Our super high-visibility client is working to develop software solutions that generate, receive, process, and present large amounts of data to be used by retail-focused customers. We're looking for a strong SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER for a contract opportunity developing retail analytics. The candidate will design and develop large scale event and batch log processing platforms to analyze and recommend content to support high volume transactions.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide technical expertise on databases.
- Develop relational (MS SQL/MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra or similar) databases, parser software, and loading software
- Support customer database requirements
- Define database organization and indexing methods
- Perform conceptual and logical data modelling
- Conduct database monitoring and performance tuning
- Develop non-database program components
- Create applications for and providing life cycle support to databases
- Carry out requirements analysis and software development.
- Install, integrate, evaluate, enhance, support, and test databases.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5-8 years of direct experience
- Experience in distributed computing, information retrieval, data mining or machine learning
- Concrete foundation in computer science theory, strong competencies with data structures, algorithms and software design
- Java, C#, C++, Python
- IDE - Eclipse, Netbeans, MS Visual Studio 2008+
- Build Tool - ANT or similar tools

NICE TO HAVE:

- Testing Tool - J-unit or similar, Implement and test by authoring automated unit and Black Box tests
- Implement database security
- Ability to evaluate and recommend data base management system products
