SOFTWARE DESIGN ENGINEER IN TEST REDMOND, WA 6 MONTH CONTRACT, EXTENSION POSSIBLE

Our very high-visibility client is looking for an SDET who will be investigating customer issues in their CRM online service offering. S/He will begin by identifying potential solutions, then open bugs as necessary, follow defined steps for certain types of problem resolution, execute automated smoke tests and investigate failures. S/He must be sound with SQL 2012 AlwaysOn and cluster services, C# coding, PowerShell Scripting as they will need to read through code and understand root causes of any bugs to then fix. Roughly 50% of the day-to-day responsibilities will be centered around resolving issues by identifying any fixes, and executing as necessary. 30% will be concerned with deployments related to production Servers, as with multiple clusters they will need to execute smoke testing. The remaining 20% will be focused on automation, as the team works on short release cycles. This person will need to be able to update automation, change existing code, and escalate to the development team if necessary. S/He will work alongside the development and operations teams to ensure all is running smoothly.

OVERVIEW:

- Analyzes designs and develops overall test plans
- Performs repeatable testing procedures and processes
- Verifies installation instructions, APIs, triggers, stored procedures, referential integrity, hardware product or system specifications, interpreting and modifying code as required including PowerShell scripts, C#, C/C++ batch files, SQL queries, stored procedures and/or triggers
- Identifies and defines project team quality and risk metrics
- Provides assistance to other testers
- Requires enterprise level configuration skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 4+ years software testing experience
- 2 years database administration with SQL 2012 (Cluster services, AlwaysOn) required
- ASP/Web Services, PowerShell
- Must have general knowledge of software quality assurance practices
- Must have the ability to read and write at least one programming language such as C#, C/C++, SQL, etc.
- Database programming experience a must
- Knowledge of Internet protocols and networking fundamentals preferred
- Knowledge of personal computer hardware may be required
- Must have solid understanding of software development cycle
- Demonstrated project management ability required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required and some industry experience preferred
