SHORT-TERM WORK FOR HIRE CONTRACT POSITION DEDICATED TO INVESTIGATING, REBUILDING, DEBUGGING AND REDEPLOYING A CLUSTER OF GAME SERVICES NECESSARY TO OPERATE AN EXISTING LEGACY GAME PROJECT. Specifically the job requires rebuilding and modifying (as necessary) the project source to execute within an up-to-date hosting environment. Environment changes include upgrades to Windows OS, IIS, platform SDK, SQL version and MSVC development tools. All source code and data, including current game state will be provided as part of the existing operation. The candidate will need to investigate the existing (and fully operational) deployment to determine all key functionality. The goal is to transfer and bring this same functionality up within the new hosting environment.

We're looking for a general Support and Test engineer who's eager to facilitate and help improve the operations of a team in active development of new a game while helping support the live operations of current games-as-service. The ideal candidate will have experience identifying and developing light programming solutions for robust testing, delivery methods, and work flow improvements, including Scripting. We're looking for someone who's dynamic, passionate, and most importantly a hands-on contributor within a support capacity. The right candidate will enjoy being an integral part of a small team that is responsible for all aspects of a highly successful and treasured game franchise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Participate in the regular meetings as necessary.
- Conduct functionality and technical testing based on incremental changes to game product and related services.
- Develop testing plans to repeat and collaborate with larger resource groups as necessary.
- Set up new machines and install OS's, key software, and configuration.
- Help non-technical community support team translate and distill user issues into their technical forms as necessary.
- Seek out and communicate issues and recommend actions to corresponding stakeholders.
- Develop workflow solutions for technical support issues that require a technical understanding of the product and operating environment.
- Develop solutions for and improvements to content pipelines for live games-as-a-service.
- Administer build generation and publishing flows for live games-as-a-service.
- Learn client processes and requirements, complete training both as needed to perform duties and increase abilities in general.

REQUIREMENTS

- Experienced general Engineer who is familiar with Client Server game architectures
- Prior experience developing server code for a game project
- Essential knowledge of C++
- Solid debugging skills
- Microsoft SQL usage and sprocs
- Solid understanding of Windows networking configuration
- Some understanding of IIS and web deployments
- Experience with MSI installation packages
- Proactively driven to find and implement engineering and technologically oriented improvements in within the team
- Self-monitoring, able to complete tasks without being pushed
- Ability to actively prioritize workload based on impact and needs.
- Flexibility and readiness to take on emerging technically oriented challenges on demand
- Ability to communicate effectively with tech and non-tech coworkers
- Demonstrable passion and experience working in a similar role
